Coach Whitehart discusses Knights summer basketball
As the 2008-09 school season draws near, expect to see hard work and discipline from the Centennial boys basketball team, which have been staying busy this summer playing in the Norcross Summer League, Clarkston Summer League, and UGA Team Camp. The team fared well during the summer offseason under head coach Allen Whitehart, coming out with a winning record over that span.
July is a month where many of the athletes focus on their AAU basketball teams and travel all over the country with them. Shining star Lorenzo Brown has been attending several elite camps and travels a lot more because of his status as a nationally ranked player.
After team play concluded this summer, the players have been focusing more on individual workouts and weightlifting routines rather than team concepts.
When asked about the outlook of the upcoming team, Coach Whitehart had this to say: “We still have a lot to learn. We’ve got a few young kids that I hope will step up, but I think that we’ll be ok.”
